Call for Contributions – SSS Lab: Sound Stage Screen’s Multimedia

Sound Stage Screen (SSS) is launching a new YouTube channel, SSS Lab, and is calling for
video-based contributions that explore intersections among music, sound, opera, theatre, and
visual media.
This platform will showcase innovative multimedia scholarship and creative storytelling. The
editorial team encourages video essays, documentaries, video reports, and experimental works
that critically engage with the artistic, cultural, historical, or social dimensions of
sound, stage, and screen.
Possible topics include:
Intersections of opera, film, and performance
Sound design, scoring, and immersive experiences
Practice-based research and multimedia experimentation
Transmedia and technological innovation (VR, AI, vocaloids)
Avant-garde and experimental formats
Auditory cultures and interviews with relevant artists
Reports on events like concerts, festivals, or lectures
Submission details:
Video length: 5–30 minutes
Include: a 300–500 word abstract
Language: English or English-subtitled
Format: Common HD video formats (MP4, MOV, etc.)
Rights: Proper permissions for all content required
Optional bibliographies or resources are encouraged. Submissions are accepted on a rolling
basis and should be sent via a downloadable link (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer)
to soundstagescreen.lab@gmail.com
Videos will be selected by Mattia Merlini (channel editor) according to the relevance to the
channel’s scope and approved by Emilio Sala and Giorgio Biancorosso
(editors-in-chief). Accepted videos will be featured in themed playlists and promoted via
SSS issues and the website.
